Art Aragon

CARBONVILLE - Our beloved father, grandfather, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew and longtime friend, Arthur Joseph Aragon, age 52, went home to our Heavenly Father on Dec. 19, 2006 as a result of a tragic auto accident.

He was born March 21, 1954 in Price to Abel and Eva Escandon Aragon. Art made his home in Carbonville with his life partner and best friend, Jan Bueno. He had two previous marriages, the first to Stephanie Milkovich, to which they had a beautiful son, Joey. Later married Joyce Rich and they had two beautiful children, Sarah and Jared.

Art was a member of the Catholic Church and a lifelong resident of Carbon County where he was a strong supporter of the UMWA. He worked in various coal mines in Carbon and Emery counties and attended numerous union conventions. He was employed at the Consol Coal Mine in Emery for the past four years. He loved the outdoors and his favorite pastime was heading for the open road and riding off into the sunset on his Harley.

Survived by companion, Jan, Price; loving children, Joey Aragon, Sarah (Adam) Oveson, Jared Aragon; beautiful grandchildren, Jaycee Aragon, Keirsten and Gracie Oveson; brothers and sisters, Abel J. (Linda) Aragon, Price; Becky (Jack) Marinos, Helper; Richard (Joanie) Aragon, Provo; James J. Aragon, North Salt Lake; Elena Robles, Price; special grandfather, John Escandon, Price; stepdaughters, Amanda and Brittany Bueno; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a community of friends. Preceded in death by father, Abel Aragon; mother, Eva Gonzales; and dear friend, Dave Olsen.

Funeral Mass Friday, Dec. 22, 10 a.m., at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service will be Thursday evening, 7 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's Thursday and Friday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.

Ernest Etzel

PRICE - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Ernest John Etzel, 73, of Price, died Dec. 18, 2006.

He was born Jan. 5, 1933 in Castle Gate, to Henry and Katie Ariotti Etzel. Married Delores "Dee" Fratto on Aug. 28, 1954 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Dragerton.

A lifelong resident of Carbon County, Ernie graduated from Carbon High School and Carbon College where he played baseball, basketball and football.

In 1952, he entered in the United States Army and served in Korea with the 7th Infantry Division. As a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, he served in Vietnam with the 259th Quartermaster Battalion in 1968-69. He graduated from the Army Command and General Staff College and retired from the U.S. Army and Army Reserve as a colonel. During his military career, he received 17 medals and citations including the Bronze Star.

Ernie worked as a letter carrier with the Price post office for 34 years.

He was a member of many civic and charitable organizations include Price Elks Lodge 1550, Knights of Columbus of Notre Dame, American Legion Post 3, and the Stella D'America Italian Lodge.

He enjoyed his favorite pastime, golf, with the members of the senior golf league at the Carbon Country Club.

He was an active member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price. Ernie loved the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Ernie is survived by wife, Dee; children, Scott, Leslie (Roy) Jewkes, and Tom (Annjanine); grandchildren, Jenifer, Kristen, Monica, Gina, Andrew, Daniel and Christine. He is also survived by brothers, Remo (Shirlee) and Robert (Cherie); and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Elvira; and brother, Al.

Funeral Mass, Saturday, Dec. 23, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Friday evening, 7 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home where friends and family may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Committal service, Price city cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Notre Dame Catholic Church in Price.
