Travis Hobbs flies high in an earlier meet. Hobbs and his team as a whole were able to bring home the gold in Park City last weekend.

On Saturday December 16th, the Carbon dive team traveled to Park City for an invitational meet. In a field of 10 teams, the Dinos stood on top. Carbon won the meet with a nine point lead over second place Highland.

Coach Foster pushed his team to have all the divers compete with 11 dives. Most meets his more inexperienced divers compete in the six dive event. The team stepped up and each one complete 11 dives and not one of them had a failed dive. This allowed all the divers are able to qualify for state, since one of the criteria is that they have to have one meet where they did not fail at a dive.

Travis Hobbs garnered the individual first place spot. It wasn't his best meet as he was recovering from an illness, but still good enough to take the title. Teammate Brett Wells was able to score 300 points and that was good enough for 5th.

Kent Olsen and Travis Hepworth placed 9th and 10th respectively. They both bettered their previous best meet scores. Nick Torres held on to 17th. He is in his first year and is only a freshman at Mont Harmon. Coach Foster is looking forward to seeing him grow as a diver in years to come.

Rounding out the field for the Dinos were James Machcinski, 19 and Nathan Hepworth at 22. It was the first meet thast Torres, Machcinski, and Nathan Hepworth attempeted 11 dives in a meet. Each of them had a few good dives and Foster is expecting to see them improve before Region.

Next meet is January 4th at South Summit.
