On Nov. 29 the Eagles took on Treasure Valley Community College (Idaho) in a non conference match up.
It was no contest as the Eagles polished of TVCC 71-113. For the Eagles it was like old times, beating up on the team from western Idaho who used to play in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
On Dec. 1, Pro-Look Allstars came back into town and made the Eagles work for their win. CEU edged out the All-stars 102-101 to go to 7-1.
The hot hand on Wednesday night belonged to Tyler Kepkay. He posted 29 points and four threes. Jeremy Latham followed with 20 points and four treys.
Steve Hassell stuck in 17 and went 2-2 beyond the arc. Rafael Moreia was the only other player for CEU in double figures with 12. With Moreira and Anthony Oliver smothering the offensive boards, TVCC could not get any second chances on their shots and the Eagles pulled away early to take the win.
Treasure Valley was smothered from the beginning to the end of the game.
On Friday against Pro-Look All-stars, Kepkay was on fire again. He shot 12-21 and put 32 points on the board. He hit another four from beyond the three point line Latham also went deep, adding four long balls of his own. He had 16 points. Moreira 10 and Hassell 13 were also in double figures on the night.
Coach Zollinger was not happy about the way his team played.
"We played sloppy," he remarked after the game.
But despite showing little defense, the team walked away with the one point edge. Now they are looking ahead to conference play that starts this weekend.
CEU plays Colorado Northwestern on Friday and Saturday night at the BDAC.
Game time for both nights is 7:00 p.m. at the BDAC.
