North Main Closure at U.S. 6 Expected to Cause Traffic Delays for Helper Light Parade
Closure signs barricade traffic from entering or exiting U.S. Highway 6 at North Main Street east of the highway. The closure is expected to last three weeks while construction crews install utility lines under the Main Street crossing.
Carbon County residents attending the Helper electric light parade this weekend should be aware of which routes into and out of the city are open and which are closed.
From westbound Highway 6 (Price toward Spanish Fork), traffic will be allowed to turn into downtown Helper on Poplar Street. Westbound traffic can access the west side of the highway at North Main near Swifts and at 10th North. For those traveling eastbound (from Spanish Fork toward Price), construction crews have opened access to downtown Helper at Poplar Street. The west side of the highway is accessible from eastbound Highway 6 at 10th North, North Main at the Martin Road crossing, North Main near Swifts and at Hill Street. An alternate route for downtown Helper is to use Spring Glen Road.
