The college dance department members perform for Pinnacle Canyon and Castle Valley Center before their public opening. The Nutcracker will be performed Nov. 16 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. The Grinch will open Nov. 17 and run again on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. The Nutcracker was written by Tchaikovsky in 1891. Historians write that he never really felt that he had perfected the melodies and considered it to be one of his worst pieces. When William Christensen imported the work to America and set it on the San Francisco Ballet in the 1940's, its success made the ballet an instant holiday tradition. The CEU performance is in it's 21st year. The cast will move their sets to Helper's Rio Theatre for a special production on Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the community's Christmas festival. Both performances are directed by Carolyn Gwyther.
